Hi: Only notebooks that came with W8 and newer from HP have a UEFI BIOS. Only those notebooks have two sets of boot options--Legacy and UEFI. The G71 model series only has a legacy bios, and one set of boot options. If the boot device is not found, there is most likely a hardware issue of some kind (hard drive or hard drive controller).
1) Download the ISO file again but do NOT create a USB stick. 2) Download and install the free RUFUS program -- which can be used to create boot media. 3) Start RUFUS and point it to the ISO file -- but sure to select the UEFI boot option . This will recreate the Windows boot media but it will enable UEFI booting with it. Good Luck
Press the Power to restart and then start pressing the F10 key to enter BIOS Setup Utility. Other manufacturers like Dell, Asus, and Lenovo use F2 to access the BIOS utility. In the BIOS Setup Utility, use the right and left arrow keys to open the Security tab. Next, select Administrator Password and press Enter.
Here is how to check it. Click Start > Power. Press and hold Shift and click Restart from the power options. Your Windows 11 PC will boot into Advanced Options .Click the Use a device option to continue. Select the USB drive you want to check and see if your PC boots from it.
HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-eh1000 (2H5A6AV) Got a brand new HP laptop with latest BIOS installed. I tried booting Linux - Puppy, Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora - all have the same issue - "The selected boot device failed." Used Rufus to make the USB and tried both MRB and GPT. Disabled Secure Boot. Tried both USB ports. None of this worked.
